Consequently, CBD does not bind with our cannabinoid receptors. It’s what THC does.

What is THC?

The cannabis sativa plant has hundreds of cannabinoids in it. The most prominent of them is tetrahydrocannabinol or THC.

This component is the one that binds with our CB1 (cannabinoid) receptors. It is the substance responsible for giving a euphoric state of mind or the kick, so to speak.

Both CBD and THC are under the same plant family. However, their function differs since CBD does not bind with the receptors, unlike THC.

Nonetheless, both cannabinoids interact with your brain. The brain releases neurotransmitters all over your body for it to “understand” pain, mood swings, and sleep or the lack of it.

When you use CBD and THC together, there is a chance that THC’s psychoactive effect is lessened. Both substances would seem to complement each other. This is known as the entourage effect.

What Does THC Have to Do with Testosterone?

Let’s go back to your testosterone. Well, unlike CBD, THC may have worse side effects when it comes to the production of the hormones. What’s next may not be good news to cannabis users.

Researchers found out that the amount of testosterone produced is lesser when high amounts of THC are used. This happens because THC disrupts the usual function of the male reproduction system.

However, another rat experiment also concluded that the effect in the testosterone depends on the substance used. This goes to show that there is a possibility that the effect would vary per strain.

Scientists need to conduct further studies, this time with humans, to have a solid conclusion about the matter. But for now, if you would like to use any or both, don’t expect to have high production of testosterone.

Increasing Testosterone, the Natural Way

If you have an issue with your testosterone production, you may want to try testosterone replacement therapy (TRT). This procedure helps to increase your sex drive and strengthen your muscles.

However, TRT is also associated with obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSA), prostate cancer, and even male breast cancer. It does not mean that you are going to have those right after treatment, but there’s a risk that you get exposed to these health issues.

Nonetheless, you can do it the natural way. Here are some of the things you can do to get the right amount of testosterone:
